This weekend was fun. Well, not all of it but a lot of it.
Friday night I met up with a coworker and his friend for some kareoke. I LOVE me some kareoke! Oh, and beer. They just go hand in hand in my opinion. A little liquid courage and you can usuall get just about anyone up there. His friend reminded me of Usher and the more I drank, the more I gushed over the Usher look-a-like. Needless to say when I thought back on it Saturday, I felt like a dumbass but oh well. When I talked to my coworker on Sunday they only had super nice things to say about me. Relief! ;)
On Saturday we had a girls day. Claire and I went to Casa Ole for lunch which is one of our faves. I love gabbing about her friends, music, school, and whatever over cheese dip. Although she can really rub me wrong some days with her 13 year old attitude, I have to admit most of the time, I like the person she is becoming.
After lunch, I needed to get my eyebrows done. I have been getting them waxed since I was 19 and recently tried the threading as well. I love the results of threading but it doesnt last as long as the waxing. I asked Claire if she wanted to get hers done but she passed. She got hers threaded once but said it hurt too much. Luckily, her eyebrows look pretty great without.
I decided to let her get her nails done and they turned out amazing! She got basically a french manicure but it is totally all her nails. I could tell how excited she was when finished because she could not stop looking at them. Afterwards we stopped by this clothing store called Rue 21. I have been suggesting for that past few years to check it out but she never wanted to. Well, now she is in love. I am just glad that were having such great sales because we got her 3 new tops, a pair of shorts, and 5 pairs of socks for 40.00. Can't complain about that!
While there I ran into my highschool sweetheart's sister. Her and I were really close back in the day so it was no surpise we recognized eachother but I always feel a little uncomfortable when I meet up with people from the past. I weighed 123 lbs back in the day and lets just say, I am no where near that weight anymore. Don't get me wrong. I am happy with my life and with myself but can't help but feel a little self confident when someone knew me in my skinnier days. I think to myself I bet they are thinking holy cow she got fat but you know what, I move one and forget about it. These people do not know me now and I am not that same person so it is all good.
I also watched Paranormal Activity 3 with Taylor and both of us were scared to death with some parts. We both have this funny "habit" of covering our ears when a really scary part is coming. I find it isn't as bad if I can't hear it and I guess he picked that up from me. Bryan was giving us a hard time because when he walked in the front door from work, we both were on the couch with ears covered and giant eyes. I am sure we were a sight!
Sunday ended with us going out to eat to Chili's. We hadnt been in forever so it was really nice. I just recently started eating ribs so I ordered theirs and fell in love. Messy but sooooo worth it. Somehow the conversation came up about women who keep their phones in their bras. No offense to anyone who does it but it just grosses me out. Bryan said he had heard that cancer has recently been linked to that. :( Claire mentioned she did that with her money when she was at the skating rink so Taylor and I were giggling about it. He tells her to show him her butter. I said, butter? He goes " Yeah you know, it is slang for money. Oh wait, I mean bread." I could not stop laughing.

Last night after Taylor brushed his teeth and was climbing into bed, his filling fell out into his mouth. Husband starts to get all freaked out and I told him there was nothing to worry about. That had happened to me once as a kid too and we would simply take him to the dentist tomorrow.
Bryan is the one who actually ended up taking him because he didnt have to be at work until 1 and I work 8-5. He called me shortly after the dentist saw Taylor and said the tooth with the filling was actually a baby tooth and adult tooth was trying to come through which resulted in popping the filling out. The problem was the baby tooth was still firmly rooted so they were going to have to cut it out.
A little nitrous oxide and Taylor was finished. Bryan said he seemed a little loopy when they brought him out to the waiting room and while he paid, Taylor was holding on to the desk all wobbily like.
He helped him into the truck and once they got on the road, Taylor started saying how he was in a space ship and putting his hands in the air like he was on a roller coaster and laughing uncontrollably. It was drizzling so Bryan turned on the wipers only to have Taylor start making noises at them every time they would swish by. When he turned on the radio, Taylor kept asking who that was that was talking. At one point he told Bryan the truck door told him that his Dad was mean.
I couldnt help but laugh and wish I was there to record him. When Claire got 4 teeth pulled, I had my phone out and ready to go but all she did was cry. Figures Bryan would get the good one. ;)
He is home and resting and seems to be getting back to his normal self. Man I wish Bryan had been able to record it.

On Tuesday my belt broke. I had one of those braided leather ones that I think was popular back in High School but for some reason, I still like them. They sell them all over so I can't be the only one right?
Anyway, it happened when I was using the restroom at work while I was pulling up my pants and securing the belt. Instead of the normal tightness felt around my waist, I felt looseness. I looked down and saw my belt had come apart and the leather had actually been worked away in one area.
I took it off and threw it into the trash. My jeans are a little loose on me so I was having to walk around holding them. I was meeting my husband for lunch that day and as I walked up to him he asked to hold my hand.
I told him how sweet that was but I needed both of my hands to hold up my britches. He started laughing at me.

Today I took some time to stop by some of the old blogs I used to haunt. It was sort of like walking down your street you used to live on but my how things have changed. Not surprisingly, most have stopped blogging years ago or havent blogged in months. I wonder if like me, did they tire of it too? Or did I tire of it? Maybe life continued on (of course) but just stopped thinking , hey I should post that!
I am now 36 and hubby is the same age. I kid him because he turns 36 in July and my birthday is in November so I like to think he is MUCH older than me.
Claire is 13, has braces, and the prettiest hair. She of course hates it but who ever likes their own hair right? The grass is always greener. ;)
Taylor will be 12 next month. That shocks me everytime I think about it. My 1lb 8oz baby who's life looked filled with issues, if he lived at all, is now a healthy, beautiful eyed smart ass.
I am proud to call myself their mom.
We still live in the same house and have the same jobs. I am doing much better as far as climing in mine and Bryan is due to make manager any day now. We both have nice, dependable cars and a healthy marriage.
I still love to make people laugh but find I have started looking at things a little differntly as I age. I think of death more often. Mostly, my own. Some days, I am okay with it by telling myself it is part of life and then other days, it terrifies me. I worry about my children being taken care of if something should happen to the both of us but he doesnt want to talk about it. To this day, he hasnt decided what he wants to do when he passes because the thought of being buried back in GA where he is from tugs at him.
I plan on being cremated and placed into a beautiful urn but I am also told a lot of people change their minds further up the age ladder. I tell myself why worry about things like that? But then I am reminded oh, well, you are almost 40 years old. Funny how this stuff just seems to sneak up on you.
So if you decide to follow along on this new trip of mind, what should you expect? Well, defiantly more laughs. Maybe some tears. Maybe some soul seaching questions. Who knows but sometimes there can be fun in that too right?
Until later,
Nicole

It's Been Awhile.....
I know I don't come here very often anymore. If I am being honest, I occasionaly come back to go down Memory Lane which I have really been enjoying. I am glad that I posted things the kids said or did, things that I had forgotten but bring a smile to my face when I read. I wanteed to share something Taylor said this past weekend which I thought was just too cute.
Bryan and I had gone to lunch with Taylor while Claire was at Main Fun with her choir from school. I was saying how big the kids have gotten, Claire being 13 and Taylor turning 12 next month and how neat it would be if we could have them go back to a younger age for a little while. Taylor said that didn't sound like fun to him but I said I thought it would be fantastic. I miss them at those ages although going through some of these old posts, it seems I was ready at times for them TO be this age. :)
I said I would choose for Claire to be 2 because she was so much fun at that age. She had so much energy and the cutest personality. I said that Taylor I would pick 4 or 5 and he wanted to know why I didn't choose 2 for him as well and I let him know since he was a preemie, at 2 he was still a baby. Bryan went on to say that when he met him, he didn't even talk and I agreed but mentioned his preemptive team had taught him sign language. My husband asked if he remembered any of the sign language and he responded, "no, only the one for the middle finger." I could not stop laughing.

Bryan took the kids to GA for a week around the 4th of July, it is their standard yearly trip visiting his family and I stay at home. One of the thing they did while there was go to a Braves game. Bryan bought both of the kids a hat among other things. Riding in the truck the other day going grocery shopping Bryan mentions Taylor tried to get him to purchase a Gator hat since he was born in FL.
Bryan: I told him no, besides, I though the Braves were your favorite team buddy?
Taylor: Nah, just wanted a hat.
He kills me. :)
