When Life Gives You Lemons, Make Lemonade

My husband is a lemon. I know - this sounds really mean but in all actuality - we're all lemons some time. I love my husband. I have commented many times about all of the wonderful things he does. Like cook, clean, play with the kids, etc. He makes a wonderful wife. :)

But you see, back in his younger days Bryan was quite the partier. That was one of the main reasons he and I did not stay together back then. He just wasn't ready to grow up and I wanted to be a wife and a mother. I can honestly say that Bryan had a serious drug and alcohol problem.

As time went on and Bryan turned the whoppin age of 27 - he decided that maybe he wanted to be a dad. I am sure I will get into all of that and my Jerry Springer-like life another time, but right now this is all about Bryan.

These past few years have been new, exciting, scary, and stressful for him. He has moved many many miles away from his family for the first time in his whole life. He is now a father of two, a husband to crazy bitch at times, and responsible for a home and other things that come with this life. I can tell you from the very bottom of my heart that Bryan is doing amazing and I couldn't ask for a better man to spend the rest of my life with.

But everyone once in awhile, Bryan trips and falls. Not all the way to the ground causing a huge bloody mess, but enough to skin his knees a bit. And I am there to clean his wound and put a nice little band aid on it for him.

When I say this I am not referring to the drugs, he has been way past that for years now. But it seems when life is getting a little to hectic for Bryan or the fact that he cannot run over to his Mama's and give her a great big hug gets to him - he turns to that mean 'ole nasty bottle. My handsome prince then turns into a weeping frog. This is not how I want to see my husband, nor is it how I want our children to see him. He knows that is not how he wants to be seen. He actually told me a few days ago after one of these little "falls" that I was one of the strongest women he knows. That made me feel good, but I want him to be right there with me.

Life is what you make of it Bryan. And sometimes, all you need is L.O.V.E. :)

Artist/Band: Rascal Flatts
Lyrics for Song: Stand
Lyrics for Album: Me & My Gang

You feel like a candle in a hurricane Just like a picture with a broken frame Alone and helpless like you’ve lost your fightBut you’ll be alright, you’ll be alright Chorus Cause when push comes to shove You taste what you’re made of You might bend ‘til you break Cause it’s all you can take On your knees you look upDecide you’ve had enough You get mad, you get strongWipe your hands, shake it offThen you stand, then you stand Life’s like a novel with the end ripped out The edge of canyon with only one way down Take what you’re given before it’s gone And start holdin’ on, keep holdin’ on Repeat Chorus Every time you get up and get back in the race One more small piece of you starts to fall into place – yeah Repeat Chorus Yeah, then you stand – yeah Yeah, BabyWOO HOO, WOO HOO, WOO HOO-Then you stand – Yeah, Yeah

* I LOVE YOU*

That was very sweet of you. Sharing something like that, yet letting Brian know that we all fall. We all need someone to love us and take care of us, even if we are the strong one in the family. We may be strong, but we still hurt. I liked the song too, very meaningful.

That was the sweetest post ever!! We do all fall in life. And then we get up and try our best yet again.

And you being there for him is the reason why he will get up again and again. That's marriage, isn't it.

Y'all stick together now, ya hear? :)
